Self-help involves a specific form of assistance: people tackle a common problem with a group of fellow sufferers. The strength lies in the small group and the specific problem. Sharing these experiences is important. Recognition plays a major role. Self-help is voluntary. People voluntarily join a group. At the AGOG, the work of the counselors is voluntary. All other people who are involved in the AGOG at an organizational or managerial level also do this on a voluntary basis. No one receives a salary.

I would like to participate one day. I’ve never done this because I was ashamed of my gambling addiction.
